Hiking and Mountain Bike Trails

Socorro County loves a good hike!  You can take one of the many trails already in existence or rough it and create your own.  The area has two (2) wildlife refuges: BOSQUE DEL APACHE and SEVILLETA, trails along the RIO GRANDE, the SOCORRO NATURE AREA, SAN LORENZO CANYON, BOX CANYON, WATER CANYON, QUEBRADAS BACK COUNTRY BYWAY and much more.

The Magdalena Mountains are full of outdoor opportunities.  Go to the MAGDALENA website for more hiking information and trail downloads in the area.

The Gila Wilderness offers an abundance of hiking opportunities. Depending on the trail, you may hike along creeks, to swimming holes, or to a large mine. Visit the SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO website for more Gila wilderness hikes.
