The events include a presentation on the history of the Observatory, tours of the 2.4m Telescope and Optical/Infrared Interferometer, and solar observing (weather permitting).

The 2.4m Telescope is primarily utilized to observe, track, and characterize solar system astronomical targets, artificial Earth satellites, space vehicles, and terrestrial military targets.

The Optical/Infrared Interferometer, which is currently under construction, will produce images of faint and complex astronomical targets at resolutions over 100 times that of the Hubble Space Telescope. Once completed, the MRO Interferometer will be the most powerful telescope in the world.
