The Empty Bowls Gala is a fundraiser for Socorro Storehouse Food Pantry, located at 519 S. Hwy 85. We are in the same building as Puerto Seguro/Safe Harbor Day Shelter, but are NOT affiliated with them. We have a different board of directors and are volunteer based. I am the only paid employee. We purchase food twice a month from RoadRunner Food Bank (generally runs a $1000 a month) and from our local stores. Weekly, we order fresh produce from John Brooks and give to our clients. This is paid for from two grants we received. I pick up food donations from Walmart twice a week. Once a month, each family takes home a food box with meat, fresh produce, and canned goods. We are only supplementing what they already get from their income, food stamps, WIC, etc… The 2018 gala, brought in enough to cover the RoadRunner food bill for the year. We operate on donations only. We need servers, clean up crew, set up crew. I am not exactly sure how many volunteers are needed. I know we need over 20. Most of them are needed on the evening of Wednesday, January 23rd. Some will be needed for the afternoon/evening before, the 22nd, to help set up. Volunteers can do one of those days or both. I would just need to know.
Since it is a fundraiser, all volunteers, band members, myself and board members buy tickets. They are $25 each if you want a souvenir bowl to take home, or $10 for entrance only, no bowl to take home. If you cannot afford a ticket, there are some tickets available from scholarship money. This is from donations that were given for this exact purpose.
Thank you for your interest and I really am sorry that I dropped the ball on this reply.
