  1. I visited Socorro in March trying to possibly find the location of my great great grandfathers soda and confectionary which was on Manzanares st, which was know as the Avenue house owned by a C. Sickles and family, around 1900. His name was Alfred Katzenstein. He operated there, along with his sons, Emil, and Lester. An article in the Chieftain, dated April 28, 1906 stated that A. F. Katzenstein will soon move his bottling works into the rooms adjoining Hill & Fischer’s market at the northeast corner of the plaza. The rooms are being put into proper condition. His son Emil w as murdered at the Hotel Richards on August 1910. Would love to have any info you might have on the Katzenstein family. Alfred, in 1897, also was the assistant foreman to the Socorro hose company. When we were in Socorro the gal at the visitors center showed us lots of old photos, unfortunately the Hammel Museum wasn’t open. The folks at the library were very helpful, by showing us old photos. I shared with them a couple of photos, one was of the interior of the soda factory in 1916 and the outside of, which I think was t heir first soda and candy shop on Manzanares. If you would like a copy, let me know what your email is and I’ll send them.
    Thanks,
